Kyle Holford and Lauren Smith, at Forest Coalpit Farm, specialise in rearing their own breed of free-range, high welfare Welsh Black pigs.

Forest Coalpit Farm in the stunning Brecon Beacons National Park specialise in rearing their own breed of free-range, high welfare Welsh Black pigs – a cross between a large black and Duroc. These rare breed pigs grow much slower and longer, developing more intra-muscular fat which produces a flavourful, succulent pork with an impressive fat covering.

At Forest Coalpit, Kyle and Lauren provide a natural, all outdoor environment for their pigs to express natural behaviours such as rooting, snuffling and foraging in the ground, resulting in incredible tasting pork and some stunning marbling.

Forest Coalpit farm believe that biodiversity is key when producing some great tasting pork, practicing traditional farming methods, planting archers of trees and letting their wild plants grow.
