Blythburgh Pork

Blythburgh Pork

Blythburgh, Suffolk.

Blythburgh, Suffolk.

Blythburgh pork comes from a herd of free-range pigs that are reared on the sandy soils of the picturesque Suffolk Heritage coast.

Pig welfare is at the heart of everything they do at Blythburgh. The piglets spend the first four weeks with their Mum before they move from the free range breeding herd to the free range finishing herd. They are placed in large straw filled huts located in expansive paddocks with continuous outdoor access.

Where intensively reared pigs are typically sent to slaughter at 18 to 19 weeks old, Blythburgh pigs remain on the farm until they are 25 to 26 weeks old. This additional time to allows for enhanced flavour and succulence, not found with intensively reared pork.
