Shorthorn Beef rom Durham and Teeswater

Originating from Durham and Teeswater in the northeast of England, the British Shorthorn is a dual-purpose breed, valued for both milk and beef production. Today, it’s recognised not just across the UK but around the world for its versatility and quality.

Renowned for their hardiness, strong maternal instincts, and milk-producing ability, Shorthorns are often favoured by farmers - particularly when crossed with continental breeds.

This particular 3-year-old heifer has been slowly matured on a farm within The Brecks National Park - an ancient farming landscape in eastern Norfolk and Suffolk, made up of sandy heathland and the pine woodland of Thetford Forest.

Born, reared, and finished on the farm, the animal was raised on a diet of natural forage from the Breckland landscape, supplemented with cereals grown on site.

Shorthorn beef is known for its exceptional eating quality - and this is no exception. With outstanding intramuscular marbling, depth of flavour and texture, it’s beef that truly earns its place at the top end of the market.
